A Strategy For Getting Your Business Unstuck
August 27, 2018
In business, as in life, our time quickly gets cluttered with tasks and we become attached to certain routines and ways of doing things.
Having a routine or a theme is not necessarily unfavorable except for the very fact that life itself is not static. Life is a dynamic force that keeps moving and evolving. It doesn’t stop for clutter or routines. But, when you’re stuck in a rut and can’t seem to get unstuck, you have to admit, it’s time to do something differently.
Those business owners who are streamlined to evolve will reap the benefits of a lively business while others will be left behind terminally stuck in chaos.
Therefore, it is of extreme importance to be aware of how you think, feel, and behave in a way that keeps you and your business moving smoothly forward keeping pace with life.
Stuck On Emotions, Attachments, Beliefs
The reason why most people get stuck whether in their personal lives or their business, is because of their emotions, attachments, comfort zones and belief systems. Once we learn how to get unstuck emotionally everything else will begin to flow forward in harmony with the very constructive flow of life.
There are processes and ways of thinking that, when adopted, will spark a burst of energy that will spread causing everything to move in the desired direction.
First and foremost, you must understand the power of a results-focussed approach. The moment you start to look at routines from the perspective of what’s working and what’s not, then you are repositioning yourself on the universal productivity track.
So, the first results-focused question to ask yourself is: “What is working?” Write down everything – and I do mean everything – that is working and bringing positive results. Sometimes people discover that they can see what is working but they don’t understand why it’s working, which, understandably might cause some fear. But, rest assured, you don’t need to understand why things work the way they do. All you need to do is keep the things that are working and providing your business with positive, forward-moving energy.
Then of course you’ll ask yourself the second question: “What’s not working?” Once again, you have to identify and write down all the things that are not bringing positive results or energy into your business. That means regardless of how emotionally attached you are to those things be they routines, people or beliefs.
Let Them Go
Once you’ve identified the processes, people and ideas that are not working you must remove them or stop doing them. Yes, that means you may have to fire someone…and I do mean immediately. Do not hesitate in this step. Many business owners have lost their businesses due to the negative impact of unhappy/unproductive employees, complicated/unproductive processes and outdated beliefs.
This process can be applied every quarter to bring a continual fresh goal-oriented perspective to the business. As the energy becomes more and more productive you can expect to see development take a leap forward.
